Chapter 29

Jon hurries towards the people who were working on Dr. Shelton, "What happened?" Jon asked quickly. Just then he sees Rocky walking in a fast pace toward the group of people with a person who was quickly pushing a gurney towards the group of people. Jon hears someone shout, "CLEAR!" he sees Dr. Shelton's body jerk from the AED put electricity in his body to get his heart beating again. He then sees someone put in an IV, he then sees an IV bag being attached to the IV site. A back board appears from some where. Then he sees the Dr. being rolled on his side, the back board slid under him, then was rolled onto the back board, lifted up and placed on the gurney. Once he was on the gurney someone was getting blood from him. Someone then says, "He's got a slight pulse but we have one!" He watches as they go into a room across from Jackie's room. Jon watches as they work on him, they hooked him up to a monitor and he hears the heart beat beating that gave Jon a sense of relief he was alive. It did make him wonder what is going to happen now? Who is going to take over Jackie's care? As he watches the team of people working on the Dr. he feels his phone vibrate in his pocket he pulls it out of his back pocket, never taking his eyes off the room before him, "Hello?" He says a bit distracted.
"Jon? Are you Ok?" The voice on the other end of the phone asks.
"Derrick? Oh man sorry I was just getting ready to call you, I'm not sure how to tell you this but Dr. Shelton collapsed and they are working on him as we speak." Jon tells Derrick who on the other end of the phone is pacing and rubbing his face with his free hand and then says, "Jon let me call you back I need to make some phone calls to get things back under control as soon as I know something I'll call you back."
Jon looks at his phone since the call ended abruptly not knowing what to do, he needed to check on Jackie but he didn't want to leave but he knew he needed to get back to Jackie, he walks back towards her room. He gets into the room he and sees that Jackie is sleeping so he chooses to sit in the chair beside, her grabs her hand and gently rubs it with his thumb.
Stella walks in the room all pale and asked Jon, "Did you see what is going on in the other room?"
"Yes I did I heard a noise walked out and saw him on the floor, Derrick called and I told him what was going on. He said he would call me back. He hung up before I could say anything. I may call in some specialist if  Dr. Shelton can't take care of her."Jon tells her.
"Jon you need to understand you can't do that to the world Jackie is dead her body was  disposed of remember, and you need to be careful of leaving this room with out your disguise, you could blow all of this each time you walk out of here with out it." She says to him a little to sternly. Stella looks at Jon and sees his getting irritated and then says, "Jon do you want Jackie to live? Do you want to get a phone call saying she is dead? Do you want to walk into this room and see people working on her to save her life yet again? Do you? Well if you don't then you need to start thinking about that more than yourself and think of the woman you love that is in that bed?" Stella was getting angry now this case is getting out of control,  to many chances were being taken and she can't stand that she was here to do a job and people were getting in the way.
"Whoa! Now hold on a minute!" Jon says as he quickly gets out of the chair and places Jackie's hand on the bed. He then turns to look at Stella and says in a calm low voice to let her know he means business, "If I chose to get the best doctor to take care of her you can not and will not stop me there are things out of your control and this is one of them. I have the means to make her disappear from here and  you or the FBI won't be able to stop me, do I make myself clear?" The last part being said through clenched teeth. Trying to keep his temper in check Jon backs off when he sees Jackie trying to get out of bed, she had her one leg hanging off the side of the bed when Jon rushed to her saying, "Hey what are you doing you need to stay in bed."
"I need to tell you something!" She said in a whispery voice while trying to sound firm, but not to successful. "Look at me!" She said to Jon as she pulled his hand to get his attention away from telling her to stay in the bed. Jon stops and looks at her then turns his head to see where the chair was reached as he pulled it up then he helped her sit up on the side of the bed. She steadied herself and let the wave of pain and nausea pass.  Jon sat down and took a hand in his and said "Ok I'm ready to listen."
"I tried so hard to get away but I couldn't." She said in a slow carefully worded sentence. She started to breathe in through her nose then exhale. " Are you ok? He asks her with concern. He watches her slowly nod her head as she keeps her breathing, then she slowly stopped then opened the small opening in her eye lid looking at Jon as much as possible, "I need you to hear what I have to say it's important." Trying to look into to his eyes with the little slits of her own eyes.
"Hey what ever you need to say can wait till your stronger." He said looking at her with a soft voice. Then gets up to walk towards her she holds out her hand for him to take, he takes it and then sits beside her just holding her hand just being with her made him feel so much better.

A short time later she yawned. "Ok lets get you back into bed so you can get some rest the more rest you get the faster you get stronger and better and you can come home." He said looking into her bruised face, trying to keep the concern off his face, the last thing he wanted to do was worry her. "I need to get up I'm tired of the bed." she said weakly then with a yawn.
"How about this you take a nap then we get you up can we compromise?" Jon asked her and waited for her reply. "Ok I'll sleep now  but then...." She said in a sleepy yawny  voice. Jon and Stella get her settled back in bed. Stella motions him away from the bed, they walk towards the window and in a low voice Stella says, "Jon you know she won't be coming home when she is discharged right?"
Jon stammers "Whaaat?" Then he says "What do you mean she won't be coming home with me? I will hire the best to take care of her."
"Jon she is going to be in protective custody we need to keep her safe." She says in a low but firm voice. Jon then clenches his fists as he walks away from Stella looking at Jackie trying to keep his cool. He turns and walks back towards Stella and in a frustrated but low voice. "Your telling me I can't take her with me when I can protect her, I can hire the best security team money can buy" He puts his hands on his hips and a serious look on his face as he looked into the women's eyes to let her know he wasn't backing down on this then says, "I will take her home and that's final! There will be nothing you can do to stop me!" He then turns and walks away from Stella to sit with Jackie again.

About an hour later Derrick comes in "Hey Jon how is Jackie doing?" As he walks closer to where the man was sitting noting the look on Jon's face, thinking something has angered him.
"She sat up on the side of the bed today wore herself out she wants to sit in a chair I told her we would if she would take a nap." He said as he stood up to shake Derricks hand.
"Good glad she is feeling a little better. Now tell me whats wrong."He said as he sat on the foot of Jackie's bed looking at Jon reading his body language. The clenched teeth the biggest sign hes angry about something. "Nothing." Jon says in a short voice.
"Lets try this again Jon whats wrong? This time tell me the truth." Derrick says in a firm voice. Then continues, "Jon spill it  maybe I can help."
"Well Stella told me Jackie can't come home with me when she is discharged, Derrick I want to take her home with me to help her heal. I need her home, I can care for her I have the means to do it you know that." Jon said in a slightly angry but desperate voice. Feeling kind of defeated at this thought. Jon looks at the floor then brings his eyes to meet Derick's not ready to hear him tell him that Jackie won't be coming home. Sighing and looking at Jon and seeing the look of defeat on Jon's face.
"Jon most likely she won't come home with you right away we need to keep her "dead" till we go to trial." He tells Jon not liking to have to tell him that but hoping it sink in on how serious this is.
"Derrick that could take a year or more I don't want to be apart from her that long." Jon said as he got up getting frustrated all over again. Walked to the window and stared blankly not seeing what was going on out the window. Derrick walked over to where Jon was and said, "Look Jon this is serious we need to keep her under the radar or something worse could happen to her." Jon looked at Derrick and sighed then said, "Jackie and I have been apart for so long as it is. I can protect her I'm not on tour right now I can take her someplace where no one would find us, I can get the best staff with back ground checks to make sure she is safe I will do what it takes to keep her safe I love her I don't want to be away from her." Just then the curtain moved and Rocky walked in right to them after glancing at Jackie and noticed she was sleeping and kept walking towards to the men by the window.


He reaches the men Derrick turns to shake his hand and says, "Hey Rocky how is Dr. Shelton?" Derrick asks him. With both men looking at him Rocky walked towards them getting his words together, he gets to them and stops looks at each of them and says, "There was a rush on the blood work shows that he had Anaphylactic shock, knowing he has an allergy to peanuts he carried an EpiPen we tried it on him and it didn't work, just as a precaution we sent it to be tested" Derrick looks at him and says, "Where did you send it?" "To our Lab." Rocky says. "Where is the lab? We need to get it back ASAP!" Derrick said in a firm and loud voice. Rocky hurries out of the room as Jon says to Derrick "What is going on? Why do you need that pen?" Derrick looked at Jon but before he could answer him his phone rang "Hello? Commander what can I do for you?" Jon only hears one side of the conversation and it sounded like Derrick was aggravated with the caller on the other end. "She's asleep, Yes I'll keep you updated." He then hangs up and Rocky walks back in carrying a small bag. "Ok here you go got the EpiPen." "Great! let me call someone to come get it I want to make sure this thing goes back to Quantico and be tested there, I have a hunch it's been tampered with I'm sure the Doc wouldn't have an EpiPen that didn't work." Derrick tells them he's going to take the EpiPen to the lab at the FBI lab, he leaves Rocky and Jon together. "Rocky, is there more to what is going on here?" Jon asks.
