Chapter 28
Jon rushes to the hospital, forgetting his disguise, he remembers as he's walking to the elevator as he hurries back to the car and pops the trunk and grabs the disguise he puts it on and quickly walks towards the elevator and as he gets to the elevator and pushes the button to make it arrive, paces as he waits the longest 30 seconds. Finally the wait ends for the doors, they slide open, then he steps inside and pushes the button again waiting as the floors tick by which felt like an eternity, the doors finally slide open, and he walks towards the ICU, a long never ending corridor he has to walk through when he finally gets the doors, and they open he quickly walks towards Jackie's room and slides open the door and then pulls the curtain aside, walks in and sees Jackie still badly bruised as her eyes flutter her body jerks then her eyes fly open. He watches her quietly as she tries to open her swollen eyes as it takes a few blinks for a small slit to start showing, Jon walks slowly towards her, he gets to the side of the bed pulls the chair up to sit close to her. In a soft voice he says, "Jackie, Its so good to see you awake." As he spoke to her he put his hand on top of hers and started rubbing it with his thumb, she moves her head just slightly to be able to see him. She tries to smile but was not to successful she then tried to speak but her voice is weak. "Jon" She said her voice was very raspy and groggy sounding.
"Jackie! Oh my God I'm so glad to see you awake!" Jon say's in a hurried voice. He stood up beside the bed and then gently sat on the side of the bed so he could see her face as he talked.
"Jon, I tried so hard to get away." She said weakly as she turned her face in the direction of his face. Jon see's a tear slip out of one eye, he reaches up to wipe it away from her face as the curtain move and Dr. Shelton walk in.
"Jon, good to see you. Glad you made it. I'm going to give her a once over while I'm here and I can answer any questions you may have." Dr. Shelton says as he walks towards Jackie and stops at the foot of the bed as he talks to Jon.
"Thanks for calling me Doc. It was a great way to start my day the next was hearing her voice call my name even if it is raspy I'll take that any day." Jon says as he stands to look at the doctor.
"Jon her voice will be raspy till the swelling goes down from the ventilator tube, but from the MRI there was some damage from being strangled which coincides with the bruising on her neck." The Dr. said as he moved up to the side of the bed opposite of Jon as he spoke. He then looks at Jon and then at Jackie while looking at Jackie, he asks her, "Jackie do you mind if I take a look at you to check your progress?"
Jackie slowly turns her head towards the person speaking to her, trying to form the words it takes a bit longer than she would have liked "That is fine but I really need to tell Jon something first." She tells the doctor in her raspy but tired sounding voice.
The Doctor looks at her then Jon and says, "I'll give you a few minutes to talk, I need to return some calls while I wait." He said as he looked one last time at her then to Jon, he turns and walks out of the room.
"You should have let him examine you first your health is important." Jon says in a gentle voice as he eases his self to the bed, he watches her slowly turned her head towards him and she winced, which made him cringe. He hates seeing her in pain.
"I need to tell you something." She says to him in a slow raspy voice. She tries to move in the bed to get more comfortable. She winced again putting a hand on her ribs, her breath was caught due to her, pain. She struggles to gain control of her pain, hating the fact that the pain is winning, she feels a tear slide down her face. She slowly raises her arm to move her hand to her face when she sees Jon's hand come close to her forgetting for a brief moment it was him she tried to push him away with fear in her eyes and her voice trying to yell "DON'T TOUCH ME!"
"Jackie! Jackie! It's ok I'm not going to hurt you, I'm so sorry to scare you. Please forgive me Sweetness, I wouldn't hurt you for the world." He says in a desperate voice with a bit of fear creeping in. He pulls his hand back and watches as she tries to calm down. Just then Stella comes into the room as she sees Jackie in a panic attack she quickly walks to her side and in a calm voice say to Jackie, " Jackie I need you to look at me and listen to what I say and do what I say Ok? Can you do that for me?" She asked. Watching Jackie with a slight nod of the head she continues to say, "I need you to breath in through your nose and out through your mouth, I know it may hurt with the breathing but try to count to 3 when you breath in and hold it then let it out as long as you can try and do this three times." Jackie looked at Stella with a bit of fear.
"Jackie my name is Stella I'm an RN that works for the FBI I'm here to help you get better I'm not here to hurt you in anyway I just want to help you get better and get the person or people that did this to you and throw them in prison." She said and watched Jackie try and comprehend what she was just told her. Jackie listens to the person talking to her not really hearing what was being said to her, she just wanted to get away from her she only wanted Jon with her. She needed to talk to him. Thinking of Jon trying to look at him she reaches her hand out to him, ignoring the women at her side needing Jon to hear what she had to say. He sees the panic on her face he steps in and says to her, "Hey you don't need to talk save your strength." He says in a soft voice.
With her eyes being swollen as they were made it hard to open them to look at him. She reaches her hand to put it on his leg that was close to her. She starts to form her words when a loud noise in the hall made her jump she winced in pain and she screamed and pulled away from Jon. She was shaking like a leaf. Jon runs to the door to call for the doctor when he sees what caused the noise a cart was pushed into the wall outside of the room and a group of people where on the floor working on someone by doing CPR Jon couldn't see who they were working on then one person gets up and he sees its Dr. Shelton.
"Jackie! Oh my God I'm so glad to see you awake!" Jon say's in a hurried voice. He stood up beside the bed and then gently sat on the side of the bed so he could see her face as he talked.
